Residents of Allentown, PA-Lehigh Valley were notified of an obvious telephone fraud involving the Allentown District Court on 31-1-03.
Lehigh County Court Judge J. Brian Johnson says the scam included a phone call that “spoofed” or mimicked the district court phone number.
In a falsified appeal, the person who made the appeal asks for bail from the arrested relatives.
Johnson reminds residents that Lehigh County Courts will never call or request payment by credit card, gift card or other method of wire transfer for any reason.
If you receive a call requesting payment of money or fines, fees, or legal costs from a number or person claiming to be involved or an appellant from a Lehigh County court, confidential information or any other, please do not provide a payment method.
